In cultural tourism night shows, architectural projection mapping, water curtain performances and outdoor advertising projection projects, customized constant-temperature protective enclosures are core equipment that guarantees long-term stable operation of projectors. Many engineering contractors only provide the projector model when placing customized orders, without supplying complete parameters for communication. This will eventually lead to rework issues such as undersized enclosures, insufficient heat dissipation, poor adaptability to coastal salt mist, inconvenient on-site installation and lens condensation, delaying construction periods and raising costs.
To complete customization at one time without rework, you must provide the following seven categories of core key data to the manufacturer. Each set of data directly determines the enclosure structure, temperature control configuration and material technology.
1.Complete Overall Dimensions & Heat Generation Parameters of Projector (Basis for Internal Enclosure Space)
This is the most fundamental and critical data for enclosure customization. A 10mm dimensional deviation may make the projector impossible to fit inside.

- Overall length, width and height of the projector (including protruding lenses, side interfaces, bottom support feet and rear cable protrusions; bare body dimensions alone are not acceptable).
- Rated power consumption and maximum heat output of the whole unit. Higher-lumen projectors generate more heat, and models above 30,000 lumens require upgraded heat dissipation power.
- Lens position, lens protrusion length and projection angle, which determine the position and tilt angle of the optical window opening.
- Positions of air intake, air outlet, power cord, HDMI, network cable and optical fiber interfaces.
- If power amplifiers, media players, power sequencers or other auxiliary devices need to be installed inside, submit their dimensions and heat output simultaneously.
Industry General Standard: A heat circulation gap of no less than 10cm shall be reserved around all sides inside the enclosure. If complete dimensions are not provided, manufacturers can only estimate based on general specifications, which easily results in insufficient heat dissipation or unfitted equipment.
2.On-site Environmental & Climate Data (Determines Temperature Control & Anti-corrosion Configuration)
The temperature control system and enclosure material vary greatly according to regional temperature, humidity and corrosive environments. Manufacturers rely on environmental data to match suitable solutions.
- Extreme annual temperatures of the project location: minimum temperature in winter and maximum temperature in summer.
- Environment type: inland dry area, humid rainy southern region, coastal salt fog zone, sandy desert or frigid northern area.
- Annual average relative humidity, frequency of fog, and proximity to water bodies (lake surfaces, splashing fountain water).
- Required protection rating: standard outdoor IP65; IP66 fully sealed enclosures are recommended for water-sprayed or seaside sites.
- For high-altitude and thunderstorm-prone areas, confirm whether surge protection and lightning protection modules need to be installed additionally.
Application Example: Coastal projects in Qingdao, Xiamen and other cities require 304 stainless steel with double-layer anti-corrosion coating. Cultural tourism projects in northern regions with temperatures as low as -30℃ need increased PTC heating power and thickened enclosure thermal insulation layers. Cities with high summer temperatures require industrial compressor cooling systems.
3.Installation Method & External Mounting Dimensions (Basis for Enclosure Shape & Custom Brackets)
Whether the enclosure can be smoothly wall-mounted, pole-mounted, floor-mounted or hoisted depends entirely on mounting parameters.

- Installation type: wall-mounted, pole-mounted on lighting poles, floor platform or high-altitude hoisting.
- Load-bearing dimensions of poles and walls: pole diameter, wall load capacity and installation height above ground.
- Maximum allowable external length, width and height on site. Some scenic facades and light poles have limited space that restricts enclosure outline size.
- Wind resistance requirements: inform the manufacturer of local maximum wind speed for coastal and high-rise installations to get thickened wind-resistant brackets.
- Maintenance door opening direction: left-opening, right-opening or top-lift door, matching available operating space on site.
4. Custom Parameters for Constant Temperature & Humidity System
Sealed enclosures are prone to overheating and internal condensation, so temperature and humidity parameters must be confirmed in advance by both parties.
- Target constant temperature range inside the enclosure (standard range: 15℃–35℃).
- Required heating and cooling power, calculated based on projector heat output and ambient temperature.
- Whether dehumidification function is standard, and whether an independent drainage structure is needed.
- Control mode: local panel adjustment, 4G cloud remote monitoring, or linkage with scenic area central control system.
- Power supply voltage: 220V mains power or 110V for overseas projects; whether built-in UPS power failure protection is required.
5. Enclosure Material, Plate Thickness & Surface Treatment Technology
Materials directly adapt to different environments and affect service life, which must be clearly communicated.

- Outer shell material: galvanized steel sheet, aluminum alloy, 304 stainless steel or 316 stainless steel (316 stainless steel is recommended for heavy salt fog areas).
- Plate thickness: standard 1.5mm; thickened to 2.0–2.5mm for high-altitude, seaside and heavy-load scenarios.
- Surface treatment: outdoor electrostatic plastic spraying, double-layer anti-corrosion coating or Teflon anti-salt fog coating.
- Sealing accessories: specification of silicone sealing strips, quantity and aperture of waterproof cable glands.
- Requirements for optical windows: AR high-transmittance glass with over 98% light transmittance, scratch resistance, UV resistance, and optional tilted design to avoid light reflection.
6. Wiring, Interfaces & Auxiliary Functional Requirements
The convenience of later construction and maintenance is determined by interface parameters.
- Number of reserved waterproof cable holes, separately for power cords, network cables and optical fibers, audio lines.
- Whether door magnetic anti-theft alarm, temperature & humidity sensors and power sequencers need to be integrated.
- Whether internal sockets, wiring troughs and equipment fixing brackets are reserved inside the enclosure.
- Custom color, engraved LOGO and special modeling requirements for appearance.
7. Project Operating Conditions & Maintenance Requirements (Optimize Long-term Operating Costs)
Manufacturers will upgrade the durability grade of accessories according to service frequency.
- Daily operating hours: all-year non-stop performances or intermittent temporary shows.
- Unattended operation or regular manual inspection.
- Required project service life (upgrade to stainless steel for an 8–10-year long-term service scheme).
- Bulk customized quantity, delivery cycle, and whether CE, IP test reports are needed for export orders.

Conclusion
Outdoor projector enclosures are not standardized universal products. Every set of parameters will change the enclosure structure, cost and service life. When communicating with manufacturers, engineering contractors shall provide complete data covering projector dimensions, site climate, installation conditions, temperature control demands, material technology, wiring accessories and operating conditions. Only in this way can manufacturers produce accurate drawings and quotations, fundamentally avoiding rework caused by mismatched sizes, failed protection and heat dissipation faults, and supporting stable delivery of light shows, water curtain and architectural projection projects.
